Between Fort Lauderdale’s Venice-like waterways and booming craft beer scene and Palm Beach’s uber-ritzy Worth Avenue, there’s plenty to drink in along this scenic 70-mile stretch of Atlantic coast just north of Miami. Mediterranean-revival architecture, trendy shopping and dining scenes, art districts, scores of renowned golf courses, and a relaxed environment complete the sand-speckled picture of a high-class destination that is perfectly suited to your next corporate event.
While there is plenty to explore inland, it’s not surprising that visitors spend most of their time on the coast. After all, between Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, you have your pick from 70 miles of pristine beaches. How about a morning yoga session on the sand? Or an ultimate beach day? Or snorkeling right off the shore? Other year-round water activities come in the form of catamaran sails with underwater photography lessons, deep-sea fishing, water-taxi rides, and paddling the more than 300 miles of canals that weave through the area.
Loads of courses designed by architects such as Donald Ross, Robert Trent Jones, and George and Tom Fazio call the beautiful surroundings of Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale home. In fact, many of the tracks you’ll find here regularly host PGA, USGA, and FSGA events and are open to the public. If you’re more into strolling window displays than lush fairways, Worth Avenue in Palm Beach boasts more than three-dozen shops housed in impressive architecture (it was once a center for Gilded Age society). Special events are scheduled year-round, so plan your corporate event around an arts festival, a jewelry or classic car show, or the annual Pet Parade.
The entertainment districts are plentiful along this stretch of coast, serving up seven different casinos, thoroughbred racetracks, and gastronomic delights galore. In fact, during a week-long corporate program, you could dine in a different district each night, from Palm Beach Gardens to Delray Beach and Boca Raton to Hollywood. If you’re craving a craft beverage, base an outing around hitting a few of the 60 breweries that make up the Fort Lauderdale Ale Trail.
