360 Destination Group’s Global Team Hires A Passionate Hospitality Hero
Irvine, California, January 18, 2022 –360 Destination Group is thrilled to welcome Megan Martinez to its Global Business team as Global Business Director. Martinez’s upbringing in Georgia highlighted the importance of hospitality from a young age; she says it’s in her blood. Megan’s love for the US at large is palpable: She’s called Florida, Boston, and Chicago home. Currently, she and her family reside in Kansas City—the heart of the Midwest. She loves nothing more than bringing people together and making event magic happen for her clients.
Megan’s experience includes Strategic Account Ownership, Hybrid & Virtual Event Production, Large-Scale Production, Creative Design, and Luxury Incentive Logistics and Execution all with a substantial Hospitality focus. 360 Destination Group’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Craig Caron, says, “We are very excited to welcome Megan Martinez to the 360DG family! Megan comes to us with an extensive, well-rounded background that lends itself perfectly to her new role. She’s adept at connecting with clients at a high level, understanding their pressure points and strategic needs, and distilling that information in order to curate a customized solution.”
We can’t wait to see what she does next! Get to know Megan better below.
What inspired you to pursue a career in hospitality? The people. Learning from them, collaborating with them, and providing them with experiences they would not be able to have otherwise.
What music moves you? Anything with a good beat!
Aisle seat or window seat? Window all the way. I like to pretend that being able to see the ground gives me some sort of control over the direction of the plane. Plus, you can’t beat a sunrise or sunset from up there! It will always feel magical to me.
What are you currently reading? I’m notorious for reading two to three books at once. Just cracked Trick Mirror by Jia Tolentino, and I’m enjoying Plenty: A Memoir of Food and Family by Hannah Howard. For a lighter read, I just finished The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
What’s your favorite travel hack? As much as I hate it, book the 6AM flight. You get more time at your destination on day one, and you usually miss the busiest times at the airport. Oh, and snacks—always pack snacks.
What are you most looking forward to in 2022? Traveling again!
What’s the best advice you could give someone starting out in the events industry? Soak it all in. Stay late to watch clean up, volunteer to proofread collateral to learn everything you can about the event, talk to the vendor partners onsite and during the event. Most importantly, make sure you take a moment to stop and truly appreciate everything the team created.
What’s one activity you’ve taken up during COVID? Besides being busy with a new baby, I’ve been trying out lots of new recipes and studying to take the entry-level sommelier exam.
Tell us about one of the coolest events you’ve ever been a part of. Oh, picking just one is too hard! Here’s a collection of favorite memories: Renting a refrigerated truck to transport an exact replica chocolate truck across Texas in the July heat; working with Gold Medal Olympians and Paralympians; so many champagne sabers; watching the Hawaiian sunset from a catamaran dinner; hosting a Breakfast in Tiffany’s; taking a helicopter tour over a volcano; an overnight Navy Seal training in the Pacific Ocean; a concept car reveal inside the Grand Canyon.
I love events because… I love being a part of making anything possible for our clients, even the things they thought were impossible. That is where the magic lives.
